History: Released in 1984, the ImageWriter was the first printer exclusively built for the Macintosh series. Its predecessor, the Apple Dot Matrix Printer, was discontinued soon after the released of the ImageWriter. The ImageWriter was a low-cost dot-matrix printer with QuickDraw support. Because of the relatively small price and high printing speed, the ImageWriter series was extremely popular amongst consumer computer users. In 1990 the ImageWriter series was replaced by the ink-jet StyleWriter series.
